Ring Beef
I was (and mostly am ) not an adventurous eater. I like my staples. And when I was younger, my Dad made red spaghetti sauce that had this odd meat substance in it. Apparently, I ate it right up and asked for more. At some point, I asked what the meat was and he informed me that it was “ring beef.” I had no clue what that was but it tasted fine so I kept eating. I found out later that it was actually calamari and I was completely grossed out. “Ring beef” became a running joke and I still have a hard time eating the stuff unless it’s fried to an inch of it’s life, but it always makes me think of him when I do! ~Kate
